The central circular pool of water is surrounded by a granite circular wall.  On top of this wall are etched the names (using approximately ¾” letters and with approximately ¾” clear space between each name—oriented perpendicular to the curve of the wall such that viewers can walk around the wall and easily view each name) of each of the 3022 victims in alphabetical order (here without any associated information such as without any associated dates, location of the victim’s tragedy, country of origin, or otherwise—i.e. just all of the 3022 names in alphabetical order are etched on top of this wall).

A sculpture will arise upward out of the water from near the perimeter of the central circular pool of water (3022 metal rods, approximately ¾” in diameter each with approximately ¾” clear space between each rod, will arise upward out of the water with each rod corresponding with each adjacent name etched on top of the surrounding wall).  The metal rods will continue upward as each helps to form the metallic sculpture that spirals into the sky (see Picture 1 and Text).  At the very top of this spiral sculpture tower, at approximately 1800 feet, all metal is together in a single piece as there is unity.  At night, from the top of the sculpture, a single light will shine upward to continue the journey far skyward.  Eventually the light will fade from sight but never from our minds and hearts.
